Webster and Micah
My love for dogs began at an early age. Around 5 years old, I was given a Little
Golden Book on all the different breeds of dogs. I knew every breed and to this
day I can still remember some of the pictures. That little book planted the seeds
of my wanting to show and raise dogs.

For my 6th birthday, I was given 6 one dollar bills, one dollar for each year. I
could buy anything I wanted. I wanted a puppy! My mother brought me to the
local pet store. Yes, a pet store! We didn't know any better back then. We
bought a pretty blonde Spitz mix puppy and named her Tawny. She was my very
first dog.

When I was engaged to my husband, we bought our first dog, a Cocker Spaniel.
She was from a pet store too. We didn't know any better either! I loved Cocker
Spaniels. I think it was from the influence of Walt Disney's Lady and the Tramp
which was in the theaters in the 1950's.

After our cockers were gone and we were without dogs for some years, I
wanted my children to have the pleasure of having a dog. So I prayed for a
dog with all the traits I wanted.

My prayer was answered in an unexpected manner. There was a lady in my
church whose daughter worked at Green Mountain Race Track in VT. This young
woman was trying to save the life of a young retired Greyhound dog that was
supposed to be put down. She kept the dog at her apartment for a while, then her
parents kept the dog at their home for a while. They were looking for a family for
this Greyhound named Ketchel. I went to meet the dog. I had never seen a
Greyhound in person. Her ears were tight against the sides of her head. She was
brindle in color. I took her home. I had never had a big dog before. We had to be
very careful with her with our cat. Ketchel was raised to chase and kill rabbits.

She was very fast! One day bunk beds were being delivered to my house. The
front door was left wide open while the men brought the beds in. She saw that
open door and took off out the door like a flash. She ran all the way up Main
Street. I thought she would get hit by a car. After chasing her up the street we
finally caught her and never let the front door stay open again.

After we had Ketchel for a year and half, I went to a throat specialist. I was
suffering from a severe sore throat. When the allergy testing was done, I was
diagnosed as being allergic to dogs. We had to give Ketchel away.

Four years later I still wanted a dog. There had to be some breeds out there in
the world that I could have without being allergic to them.

Another lady in my church told me about a lady in our area who raised Bichon
Frise, I said, "A what? I've never heard of that dog. How do you say the name
again?" I went to meet the lady and her dogs. They were small, really small,
smaller than my Cocker Spaniels! They were white, all white. How was I going to
keep them clean? Well, I fell in love with the breed. I bought my first Bichon in
1987, my second one in 1988 and my third one in 1989.

I wanted my childhood dreams to come true. I took my dogs to obedience
classes. They won many ribbons and trophies. Then I started taking them to
handling classes and dog matches. They won more ribbons and trophies.

In 1994 my Bichon, Gwendy, was Best Puppy in Match. Later that year in
another show she was Best in Match Show. I was very proud of her. In 1995
Gwendy received her Championship. I still have her, she is my oldest Bichon.
Her littermate, Theo, was my very first Champion. Gwendy had another brother,
Stanley. He got a Group 1 with Kathy Kirk in Syracuse, NY in 1995 at the age of
8 months. That gave him a 5 point Major towards his championship. My husband
and I were there at that show and saw Stanley get his Group One. I was totally
thrilled! The week before that I put a 4 point Major on him over Top Specials.

In 1999 Gwendy's mom became an ROM. She is the mother of 5 Champions. In
November 2005, Gwendy became the mother of her 5th Champion. Gwendy is
now an ROM like her mother. ROM means Register of Merit and is given to dogs
who have at least 5 Champion offspring.

My childhood dream became a reality. I am very grateful to the Lord Jesus for
enabling me to accomplish my childhood dream and for guiding me throughout
the years. I thank my family for there love, help, support and patience as we all
raised Bichons together. I also thank my many friends from the Bichon Frise
Club of Southern New England who helped me, went to shows with me, and
those who purchased puppies from me that became Champions.

Today we continue to breed for quality in Show Dogs and Companion Pets. We
breed for the Bichon Frise Show Standard, for health and temperament. Puppies
that we do not keep for the show ring as future champions are shared with loving
companion pet families.
